How to comment on the Dorset Local Plan

It is disappointing that we have to go back to the drawing board having spent the past 5 years working through this in the Weymouth Neighbourhood Plan.  Or, 8 years in my case since the last public meeting in 2018 about the Budmouth site.  It is disappointing that the Labour Government have removed the requirement for Affordable Housing and so any of these sites could have ZERO Affordable Housing just by the developer putting in for it. Let us see what Dorset Council decide about minimum number of Affordable Houses on Greenfield Sites. Weymouth Town Council have consistently been pushing the WNP through on the assurance to us that 50% Affordable would be built.

It is disappointing that the Labour Government are requiring of Dorset so much house building under their "Build, baby build" Policy. One has to have sympathy for the Dorset Planners; what they are doing now is to show that they are considering every conceivable (and many inconceivable) site.  To be able to remove sites from consideration they will have to show concrete reasons.  It is up to residents to remind the Planners about the reasons, remind them what has already gone before.

Go to the Dorset Council website.  Follow the on-line process. Attachments are not permitted. There is a restriction of 3,000 words per heading for your submission.  This would not allow you to submit the WORD doc shown here because it is about 13,000 words long!  Therefore, we recommend submitting your response by email for long submissions. Attachments on emails are permitted of up to 10mB. Their email address is: planningpolicyconsult@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk. Remember to include your personal information from Part A of the DC form - they have to know who is making the submission.

To help you for this development site LA/WEYM/012 (or W20 as it was then known),:

1. You can copy and paste whatever you like by clicking on the button to the left "Comments to Dorset Council about this site"

2.  If you agree with this whole document and would like to send it to Dorset Council as it is, simply copy the link and send it as an attachment in your email to them.  It is less than 100kB in size but it contains a multitude of hyperlinks relating to about 10,000 pages of evidence, all of which have been considered by me.

3. 92 emails of relevant commentary about this site were sent to Dorset Council in respect of the Weymouth Neighbourhood Plan.  If you prefer, you can simply copy and paste whatever you like from that commentary, the links are shown below.  In addition an extensive analysis of the Strategic Environment Assessment was made and you'll see this if you click "Commentary on SEA" at the top of this page.  It is the Environmental Reasons which will stop this site from being developed.  Please remember to submit only valid Planning Reasons.  For example, having your lives blighted over several years by thousands of lorries grinding past your house during the construction phase IS NOT A VALID PLANNING REASON!
